Terry and Jan's Anniversary Adventure - Days 5-12 Family Time!

A primary purpose of our trip was to get to be with family.  We were able to visit three of our four siblings' families that were unable to come to our family anniversary celebration.

Thursday we drove to Fredericksburg VA to be with David and Dolly, Terry's younger brother and sister-in-law and their daughter, Chelsae and James Iovino and family

This past Fall David and Dolly moved to Spotsylvania to be near Chelsae and James and their family.  We enjoyed getting to see the lovely home they built.

We got to see a lot of Civil War battleground sites and the two guys shared all their research from the war.  In James and Chelsae's yard are Civil War trenches that are protected historical spaces.

It was so fun to watch these two "boys" catch up and enjoy each other's stories.  David and Terry are very close and both have the same health issue with rheumatoid.  Dolly and I talked nonstop for three days and I thoroughly enjoyed our time to catch up and share ideas.

We loved getting to meet their 6 Grands. The children were so well behaved and shared their active lives with us.

Francesca is a darling first grader and her grandma's special gal!
Max had all kinds of questions for Uncle Terry about Tornadoes (since we live in Tornado Alley). Tornadoes are a new fear for this young kindergartener since a classmate told him all about them.

Baby Dominic is growing quickly and learning from the other five.
Lillian is a big help with baby and a focused young lady.

Sophia writes well and had a story ready for us.

Savario is always up for a challenge.

James and Chelsae channel their energies into seeing the individual success of their six.  They're a team!

On Sunday Apr 2 we left VA for PA to be with Char, my brother Bill's wife, and their son, Casey and his wife Layne's and their 3 children.  Char has been going through cancer treatment and we were happy to see her doing so well.

Will and Caleb kept Uncle Terry entertained -
Casey and Layne settled in Indiana PA last summer and have quickly become involved in a local Christian school and the Church there.  Char is loving having them close.

We left PA on Tues., Apr 4 and drove to Peoria, IL to visit with Allen and Sandy, my brother and sister-in-law and their daughter Angie and granddaughter, June.

We were able to also have lunch with Frank and Kathleen Wheeler, Sandy's brother and sister-in-law that we had been with in Memphis during Terry's graduate school days.

June is quite the gifted young gal who kept Terry and I entertained during the whole day. She sweetly begged us to stay for one more day.  Checkers, Dress-up, playing veterinary with her stuffed animals and all other sorts of games kept us all entertained.

Seeing our brothers and sisters-in-law was such a gift to these two empty nesters who have been stuck at home with health issues the past few years.  A treasure of all of this was getting to visit with the grandchildren of our siblings.  Each family is parenting with God-given wisdom and it is a blessing to us.  These are the great grandchildren of our parents and they would be so pleased!

We came home with full hearts from our time of sharing our stories, enjoying wonderful meals and our and loving BIG!
