Spring Projects

With an open teaching schedule for Terry during May thru mid - June - we decided to tackle the backyard.  It all started way back during Spring Break when we were not able to travel to the family vacation in North Carolina.

Terry moved our firepit -- we love it for burning fallen limbs and roasting marshmallows with the kids.

At the same time, Terry redesigned the back gate to resemble something he saw online.  Power-washing the old boards brought them back to life.

We had been saving for a new driveway for some time and decided it was time to finally do it.  We parked at the neighbors for 3 weeks -- and walked through trenches. . . the final result was well worth it.

Another Spring Break project:  The little bridge at the back of the yard was falling apart and Terry rebuilt it with permanent decking boards repurposed from Mat and Bethany's deck a few years back.

Then Terry looked around and decided the Hosta bed needed help
and proceeded to transplant, put down weed barrier and remove all the stones bordering the Hosta bed

That done, Terry decided that the stones on the path needed to be uprooted -- weed blocker put down and then a bed of mulch covering the 3 layers of weed block.  The stones then framed the path in a naturalistic way.  We painted the trellis Banner Red to match the bridge

We repurposed a fountain from Marshall's Denver yard to the perfect flower planter.

Last night we decided that the season of replanting, repurposing and recreating has brought refreshing and relaxation from a long season of teaching for Terry and a fun way to begin retirement.
